Rotan ISD Weather Closure It is with an abundance of caution and based on current road conditions and data from the National Weather Service that Rotan ISD will be closed Thursday, January 9, due to inclement weather. This closure will not impact our calendar, and no make-up days will be required. Stay safe and warm, and we will see you Monday.

BRR! With winter weather on the way, we want to remind you how we make decisions about school delays or cancellations. When inclement weather is expected, we maintain constant contact with the National Weather Service, TxDOT, the Department of Public Safety and other local agencies. Additionally, Rotan ISD staff monitor road conditions the night before and begin driving as early as 4:00 a.m. to see if road conditions are safe for travel. It’s important to know that decisions made regarding school delays or closures are not based on temperature, but on icy road conditions that make travel dangerous. After carefully reviewing all available information, a decision to delay or cancel school will be communicated no later than 5:15a.m. via phone call, text, and email to Rotan ISD families and staff, as well as through social media, our website, and local media for the community. Whenever possible, a decision will be made the evening before when weather conditions appear to be a concern. If you don’t hear from us, schools will be open as scheduled. The safety of our Rotan ISD family is our highest priority, and we make the best decision we can with the information available at the time. We understand that canceling or delaying school can create challenges for families, especially when it comes to childcare. That's why we do everything possible to keep schools open, and canceling school is always a last resort. Stay safe, stay warm, and keep an eye on our accounts for any updates!
